Under the Bridge

A. In your English book, make the heading "Under the Bridge."  Write what you think a film called “Under the Bridge” might be about.  Consider stereotypes about who lives under a bridge, and whether this sounds like a heart warming story or a story of disappointment.  Please come up with at least two possible stories this title could be about.

B. Now you can watch the film Under the Bridge, either together on the big screen if the reliever has a laptop, or in groups on devices. http://features.nzherald.co.nz/under-the-bridge/

After you have watched the film (30 minutes), discuss the following questions in groups.  You can either write your answers in a shared document or individually.

1. What did you think of the film?
2. The Auckland newspaper The Herald made the film.  In a city where 50% of students travel across town to a school which is not their local school, and where Papakura High School has a poor reputation, why do you think the newspaper made the film?
3. What does this initiative suggest about the changing nature of newspaper companies?
4. How is Papakura High similar to Grey High?  Give specific evidence to back up your statement.  You are encouraged to research the area on your devices to get information about the area it is in.
3. How is Papakura High different to Grey High?  Be as specific as possible here as well, giving information on Grey High and Greymouth as well as that found in the film.
4. What do you think is special about our school (Grey High)?
5. What do you want to do this year to push yourself and achieve something which is special to you?
6. What do you think we can all do to make Grey High even more special, especially for people who find school difficult?

I look forward to hearing or reading your thoughts on Wednesday!
